Michael Nyvangs ”Movements for a monument to the loneliness of the world”
(1986-93) is amongst the most ambitious and brave works written by a young Danish
composer. Its opulent title is to some degree countered by the music’s
abstract purity – as Bo Gunge writes ”It is apparently the ambition
of the piece to create a personal, emotionally charged work that in a tightly
controlled atmosphere gives the listener the possibility of many different kinds
of experience; from classic to modernist/sculptural to the meditative.”
